The walk for water adds up to a marathon every week.

Women and girls in many parts of the world walk an average of 3.7 miles a day to bring water home. Our friends are running with Team World Vision to bring clean water close to home.

Race day comes once. The walk for water comes every day.

Our runners will cover 26.2 miles on race day, with months of training behind them and a water station every couple of miles. Women and girls who collect water for their families walk an average of 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) a day, often carrying about 44 pounds of water home from a source that can make them sick.

Seven days of walking 3.7 miles comes to 25.9 miles, nearly a full marathon, and the next week starts the morning after.

Clean water close to home changes everything

With clean water nearby, children are healthier and can go to school instead of spending the day fetching water. World Vision drills wells, builds solar-powered water systems, and trains local mechanics to keep the water flowing for years.
